Historical society posts events

Manheim Historical Society will hold an event on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. rain or shine at the Fasig and Keath log houses, 30-32 E. High St., Manheim. The event will include demonstrations and sales. It will feature brooms of all types, cane chair repair, spinning, rug hooking, weaving, candles, woodcarving, and leathermaking. Light refreshments and free house tours will be available. Free parking is available at the rear of the building.

Another event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Manheim Railroad Station, 210 S. Charlotte St. The museum will be open free of charge, and free tours will be available. The event will feature Stiegel-type class, a model train exhibit, and weather permitting, trolley rides. "Manheim's 19th-Century Industrial Revolution" walking tours will be offered free of charge at 1 and 3 p.m., weather permitting. Doug Shaw will give a presentation about traditional woodworking tools at 2 p.m. Throughout the event, Shaw and Colin Nunemacher will offer woodworking demonstrations, and items will be for sale.
