The Hummelstown Area Historical Society's monthly general meeting on Monday, May 17, will include a presentation titled "Wash Days." The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Parish House, located at the corner of Rosanna Street and North Alley.

The presentation will focus on how clothes were washed years ago before electric appliances. Monday was Wash Day in Hummelstown, with tools for this task including galvanized tubs, wash boards, bluing agent, lye bars, and clothes lines. Some people had a wringer washer.
