Holiday Activities Planned In Wrightsville

Historic Wrightsville has planned holiday events centered on the theme "Dickens of a Christmas." To make reservations, call 717-252-1169 and leave a message or email historicwrightsville1983@gmail.com.

The festivities will begin with the Cookies, Chapels and Carols Town Tour on Friday, Dec. 2. Jeremy Young will lead attendees on a walk through town, stopping at several historic churches to offer anecdotes about Victorian Christmas traditions. English cookies baked by Joyce Heiserman will be served at each stop, and Young will lead Christmas carols along the way. The tour will leave from the museum, 309 Locust St., at 6 p.m. and end at Wrightsville Presbyterian Church, Locust and Second streets. Attendees are advised to bring a flashlight or lantern. This is a free, non-ticketed event, but reservations are requested.

Continuing the Victorian Christmas theme, A Dickens of a Tea will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10. The event will return to the historic Wrightsville House, 127 and 129 N. Front St., Wrightsville, and will offer seatings at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will be five courses, all with origins in Dickensian England; the food will be cooked and baked by Historic Wrightsville members under the direction of Joyce Heiserman. There is a fee to attend. Seating is limited, and reservations must be made by Dec. 2.
