Holiday events planned in Lancaster city

The City of Lancaster will host a variety of special events this holiday season. For more information, visit https://visitlancastercity.com and look under City Events. The events are sponsored by Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, Pennie, and Highmark.

Tuba Christmas, featuring spirited brass music, will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. at Ewell Plaza.

The Jewish Community Alliance of Lancaster will ceremonially light the public menorah in Penn Square daily from Thursday, Dec. 7, to Thursday, Dec. 14. The menorah will be lit each evening at 5:30 p.m., apart from Friday, Dec. 8, when it will be lit at 4 p.m.

Santa, escorted by representatives of the Lancaster City Bureaus of Fire and Police, will visit downtown Lancaster and city neighborhoods on Dec. 8; Saturday, Dec. 9; and Saturday, Dec. 16. Visit the aforementioned website for details on Santa's schedule.

Ewell Plaza will be the site of the inaugural outdoor Holiday Arts Market on Dec. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature local artisans, visits with Santa, food trucks, and organizations like Lancaster Creative Factory and Lancaster Public Library.

Lancaster Shops Late will take place on Dec. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m., when Lancaster city's shops, boutiques, and more will stay open late. The event will be presented by the City of Lancaster and the Lancaster City Alliance. Visit the previously mentioned website for a full list of participating businesses.

Light Up Southeast will occur on Dec. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. Members of the public may join Lancaster's Southeast community for colorful displays along the South Duke Street Mall. The event will be hosted with Community Action Partnership of Lancaster County and Crispus Attucks Community Center.
