Holiday toy drive slated

Municipal Emergency Services Authority of Lancaster County (MESA) is partnering with Toys for Tots to collect new, unwrapped toys at various locations in Lancaster County through Thursday, Dec. 5.

MESA has coordinated with various Lancaster County organizations and businesses to be drop-off locations. In addition to MESA, 380 W. Bainbridge St., Elizabethtown, drop-off locations include the Conoy Township office, 211 Falmouth Road, Bainbridge; East Donegal Township building, 190 Rock Point Road, Marietta; Elizabethtown Public Library, 10 S. Market St., Elizabethtown; Cultural Center in Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown; Design Data Corporation, 1195 Strickler Road, Mount Joy; Dollar General, 840 N. Hanover St., Elizabethtown; and Marietta Borough Office, 111 E. Market St., Marietta.

Since 1947, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program has been working to make the holiday season special for children in need. In December, Toys for Tots coordinators collect the donated toys, sort them by age and gender, and distribute them with the assistance of local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other local community agencies. To date, the program has distributed 677 million toys to 301 million children.

The Municipal Emergency Services Authority of Lancaster County provides 911 emergency medical services previously provided by Northwest EMS to member municipalities in northwest Lancaster County. For more information, visit http://www.mesalancasterpa.gov.
