Holy Week events set

Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, will host two special events during Holy Week. The community is invited to attend.

The church will host its love feast and Communion service on Maundy Thursday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. in its Family Life Center. The event is patterned after Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples.

Pastors and lay leaders will offer reflections and guide the congregation through the service. The love feast will include congregational singing, interpretation for Spanish speakers, and footwashing, with handwashing as an alternative. Men and women will be seated separately, with footwashing taking place around tables. After a simple meal, pastor Jamie Nace will lead the children in an age-appropriate activity. The event will also include Communion.

An outdoor family Easter scavenger hunt will take place on Saturday, April 8. Participants may check in at the welcome table from 9 to 11 a.m. to receive their checklist and instructions. Children and families will then walk the church grounds at their own pace in search of Easter egg-shaped posters, where treats and fun activities related to the Easter story await. In the case of rain, the church will offer a modified, indoor version of the hunt.
