Homestead Village Earns CARF Reaccreditation

Homestead Village Inc., Lancaster, was recently awarded its CARF reaccreditation certificate. CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body focused on advancing the quality of services that organizations use to meet community needs with the best possible outcomes.

To earn the distinction of CARF accreditation, Homestead Village must undergo a thorough accreditation survey every five years. Industry experts who conduct the survey process evaluated Homestead Village in a wide range of areas, including quality of programming, resident satisfaction, risk management, resident involvement in leadership, financial health, quality of grounds and facilities.

CARF International was founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and focuses on the accreditation of organizations and programs in the fields of health and human services. The CARF International group of companies currently accredits more than 60,000 programs and services at more than 28,000 locations. More than 15.3 million persons of all ages are served annually by more than 8,000 CARF-accredited service providers.

The Homestead Village department leaders who accepted the CARF reaccreditation certificate included Laura Tallarico, vice president of human resources; Douglas Motter, president; Tawana Winder-Nock, personal care administrator; Joel Clausen, vice president of resident services; Bill Powers, director of dining services; Jeremiah Tucker, director of facilities; Matt Scarpato, CFO and vice president of finance and operations; Christina Gallagher, director of marketing; Krista Murphy-Denlinger, administrator of nursing care; Jennifer Stout, operations manager; and Jill Marinaro, controller.

In a letter from CARF announcing the reaccreditation, CARF president Brian J. Boon, Ph.D., wrote that Homestead Village's accreditation "will extend through Nov. 30, 2027, with annual demonstration of conformance to the standards and policies and procedures required to retain accreditation."

Homestead Village provides a range of services to adults ages 62 and up on a 90-acre campus as a life plan community, also known as a continuing care retirement community. Residential offerings range from cottage, villa and carriage homes to apartments.

Exercise equipment, an indoor pool and classes are available for both resident and staff use. The philosophy of health and wellness is evident in the Thrive Where You Are program, which supports aging in place while helping residents to live as independently as possible.
