Hot Weather Safety Program Set

LCH Health and Community Services will join with the Jennersville YMCA and Chester County Health Department to offer "Hot Days, Safe Ways," a community conversation on summer heat safety. Hosted by United Way Southern Chester County, the event will take place on Wednesday, June 17, at 6 p.m. in the pavilion at the Jennersville YMCA, 880 W. Baltimore Pike, West Grove.

During the family-friendly, all-ages event, panelists will discuss common risks and dangers associated with high summer temperatures in southern Chester County. Program attendees will hear from Casey Cummings, assistant program manager for the Chester County Health Department's Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response program; Katie Doochack, director of risk management for YMCA of Greater Brandywine; Dr. Joseph A. Greco, chief medical officer at LCH Health and Community Services; and nurse practitioner Melinda Olivencia-Lozada with LCH Health and Community Services. The topics to be discussed include heat-related illness prevention, staying hydrated, sun protection, and warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
