Hurricane relief supply drive set

The Knights of Columbus Council 17028 at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church is spearheading a community-wide initiative to collect essential supplies for people affected by Hurricane Helene in Asheville, N.C.

Through Sunday, Nov. 3, community members are invited to donate supplies to help fill a box truck that will be sent directly to those in need. Items may be dropped off at U-Haul, 3975 Columbia Ave., Columbia.

Needed items include jackets, hats, gloves, hoodies, blankets, kerosene heaters, empty propane tanks, extension cords, generators, tents, setup shelters, sleeping boxes, camp stoves, baby food, diapers, baby formula, baby wipes, juice boxes, water, pet supplies, chain saws, bar oil, and over-the-counter medicines.

U-Haul will store the donated items, assist with packing the truck, and waive the mileage fee for the truck rental. Lancaster SCUBA and Knights of Columbus Council 867 are providing financial support.
