The inaugural season of Hempfield Youth Association (HYA) 3-on-3 outdoor summer basketball recently concluded. The grade 6U champion was Moody Blues, and the grade 4U champion was Orange Crush. HYA plans to make this program a regular summer offering, providing opportunities for students to play basketball between the end of spring sports and the beginning of the school year.

HYA has announced that registration for its boys' winter travel and intramural basketball programs will take place from mid-September through October. The travel team is for the more skilled fifth- and sixth-graders, while intramural, or rec, ball is for interested boys in the following groups: grades three and four, grades five and six and grades seven and eight levels (4U, 6U and 8U, respectively).
