Jamanis Family, Guest Artists Plan Concerts

Lancaster Catholic High School's Fine & Performing Arts Department will present "The Jamanis Family & Friends," a program of the George R. Schreck '47 and Barbara A. Schober '72 Memorial Community Outreach Concert Series. This three-part concert series will take place over the course of April and May and will feature Michael T. Jamanis, violin, and his parents, pianists Frances Veri and Michael Jamanis. Special guest artists will also participate.

The first concert, "Six Centuries Spanning Five Continents: A Celebration of Community," will be held on Saturday, April 2, at 6 p.m. at the New Creation United Methodist Church - Bilingual, 10 W. Farnum St., Lancaster. Joining the Jamanis trio will be Matthew Woodson, an educator, performer, and entrepreneur based in Lancaster. A professional percussionist, he can be seen with the local band Big Boy Brass; his most recent steelpan project, Woodson Steel Experience; and other local production companies. Music on the program will include works by Vitale, Gershwin, Amram, Wong, Lecuona, Bach, and Wieniawski.

The second concert, "An Evening With the Classics," will be a private event for Willow Valley Communities residents only and will take place at the retirement community on Friday, April 29. The guest artist will be Jerome Wright, cello.

The final concert, "Breathing With Bach," will be held on Sunday, May 15, at 6 p.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster. Spoken word guest artist Amanda Kemp will join the Jamanis family in presenting works by Bach/Jamanis, Mozart, and Franck.

The April 2 and May 15 concerts are free and open to the public. The Lancaster Catholic High School Tri-M Music Honor Society will accept donations for Music for Everyone. The honor society has chosen Music for Everyone to benefit from its charity service project this school year.
