Jazz Quartet To Showcase New Album

The Arts at Millersville University's Club 42 at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster, will present contemporary jazz bassist Dezron Douglas and his quartet on Saturday, Nov. 5. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. show in the third-floor atrium.

The ensemble will perform music from Douglas' newest studio album - to be released in November 2022 - titled "Atalaya." Performing with Douglas will be contemporary jazz musicians George Burton, piano; Willy Rodriguez, drums; and Chris Lewis, tenor saxophone.

In 2019, double bassist, composer, producer and educator Douglas was the winner of the Downbeat critics' poll for Rising Star bassist. He tours with the Trey Anastasio (Phish) Band, has been a longstanding member of the Ravi Coltrane Quartet and performed with the Louis Hayes Jazz Communicators. Douglas has released 11 albums as a leader; as a sideman, he has recorded with Cyrus Chestnut, Michael Carvin, Steve Davis, and many others.
