A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently to celebrate the new location of Jul Hearing Aid Solutions LLC. The office moved from Elizabethown to 939 E. Main St., Mount Joy.

Julie Nelson, a hearing instrument specialist and the owner, has been treating hearing loss since August 2014. Nelson is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The practice's mission statement is "to provide comprehensive hearing healthcare, using a personable and detail-oriented approach to help clients live their best lives. When we hear better, we live healthier and stronger lives."

The vision for each client at Jul Hearing Aid Solutions is to exceed clients' expectations by offering an affordable and praiseworthy hearing health care experience, which clients recommend to their families and friends.

Nelson grew up on a dairy farm in the village of Waterside, Bedford County. She is married and has two adult children, and she currently lives in Mount Joy. She is a graduate of Northern Bedford High School, has major and minor bachelor's degrees from Saint Francis University and also completed her MBA at University of Phoenix.

Prior to her hearing health career, Nelson worked at Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring as a phlebotomist for eight years and then went on to a career in pharmaceutical sales. She also worked for Great-West Financial Services as an educational counselor for a few years.

In 2014, Nelson became licensed with the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a hearing instrument specialist, able to provide complete hearing testing evaluations as well as fit appropriate hearing instruments for patients. At this same time, Nelson opened her first office in Martinsburg, and then she opened two other offices a few years later.

Nelson owns and operates three locations in Pennsylvania: Martinsburg, Newport and Mount Joy. She is at each location at least once a week, sometimes more depending on the needs of her clients. Nelson is also able to do home visits for patients who are unable to physically attend appointments at one of the office locations.
