The eighth annual Kat's 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, May 7, at 8:30 a.m. in the back parking lot at Wesley United Methodist Church (UMC), 40 W. Main St., Strasburg. Alternately, people may participate virtually by running wherever they can from Sunday, May 1, to Saturday, May 7.

Kat's 5K is held in memory of Kathryn Frances Lehoe, the stillborn daughter of Friends of Angels founders Chris and Diane Lehoe. Proceeds will benefit the Sweet Pea Project, the Garden of Hope and the Kathryn Frances Burial Fund.

The 5K course for the live events travels through rolling hills in the heart of Strasburg. No pets will be allowed.

Packet and virtual shirt pickup will take place at Wesley UMC on Friday, May 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. Packet pickup on race day will be from 7 to 8 p.m.

Organizers will award cash prizes to the top male and female runners, medals to the top three male and top three female runners in various age categories, and an award for the largest team, including virtual participants. Virtual participants will not be eligible for individual awards.

Anyone age 6 and up who registers by Wednesday, April 20, will receive a shirt and discount. The registration fee will be discounted for people age 12 and under. Children age 5 and under will not receive a shirt, but their registration will be free.
