Kindergarten Registration Opens For 2021-22

Children residing in Hempfield School District who will be 5 years old prior to Wednesday, Sept. 1, are eligible to begin kindergarten in the fall of 2021. Parents and guardians who plan for their children to attend school this fall are asked to complete the online registration process by Monday, Feb. 22.

According to the district, the age by which children in Pennsylvania are required to begin school has been changed to 6, and students must attend school until age 18 or until they graduate.

To successfully complete kindergarten registration, adults must visit http://www.hempfieldsd.org/kindergarten, create an account, and work through the online enrollment process. Parents and guardians should then call Hempfield Student Services at 717-459-9009 to schedule a registration meeting. Adults will need to provide their photo identification as well as each prospective kindergartner's birth certificate, proof of residency, and immunization records.

Typically, families would be invited to attend a Kindergarten Orientation Night at the school where their children are enrolled. This year, however, orientation will be held virtually. Details for that event will be announced later.

Individuals who do not have access to the internet may call Student Services to schedule an appointment to use the computer kiosk in the Student Services office.
