Katherine Kruft of Elizabethtown was granted a sponsorship to attend the summer economics education program called Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) held in July in Williamsport. The event offered students an opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills, and qualities vital to their future success as responsible, involved citizens in an increasingly competitive global economy.

A junior at Elizabethtown Area High School, Kruft had to submit an application and short essays demonstrating her desire to learn about business and the American free enterprise system and obtain recommendations from school personnel. The final selection of participants was then made by PFEW staff.

Kruft is the daughter of David and Corrie Kruft.
