Labor Day Weekend Events Planned In York

A variety of family-friendly events will take place in downtown York on Labor Day weekend.

Downtown restaurants and businesses will offer specials and events during the monthly First Friday celebration on Sept. 3 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Downtown Inc will coordinate and post information about individual events happening around town that day. The York Revolution will play games on Wednesday, Sept. 1, through Monday, Sept. 6, against the Long Island Ducks and South Maryland Blue Crabs.

On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4 and 5, Penn Park will be the site of 10,000 Acts of Kindness and What the Food Trucks, which will be free events. The two organizations decided to team up to share resources and market the two events. The 10,000 Acts of Kindness 2nd Multicultural Unity Through Kindness Concert and Festival will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The event will include a concert, a community resource fair, food and fun.

On Sunday, What the Food Trucks will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 40 food trucks will line the streets around the park, and the event will also include a large stage for entertainment, a Community Corner featuring York's nonprofits, and a Treasure Island pop-up beer and wine garden. The event is free to enter, and all activities are free. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

What the Food Trucks is organized by CrocodileDog Marketing. In 2019, more than 20,000 people visited downtown York for What the Food Trucks, many spending the day under tents with friends.
