Ladies group to host Eleanor Isaacson

The Ladies Night Out group from Millersville Community Church will host Eleanor Isaacson, who will speak at its meeting at Hope Campus on Friday, April 12. The church is located at 242 Bender Road in Millersville, and the event will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Isaacson is a World War II survivor, mentor, speaker and co-author of her memoir "Dancing From Darkness," which won Memoir of the Year in 2018 by the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association.

Born in New Jersey, Isaacson was sent to Germany as a toddler at the onset of the war. She endured bombings, starvation and numerous horrific challenges before returning to America at the age of 13 just before the Iron Curtain fell.

Knowing no English, but with God's help, she overcame the language barrier, deafness and solitude to build a fulfilling life in the United States. She earned a double bachelor's degree, became a successful entrepreneur and a champion ballroom dancer and married renowned scientist Robert Isaacson.

Ladies Night Out is open to the community for women who wish to enjoy the friendship and fellowship of other ladies in a safe and welcoming environment. The group meets on the second Friday of the month and offers a variety of activities. In the past, the group has hosted speakers on relaxation techniques, herb gardening, self-defense, first aid and others. They have hosted tap and Irish dancers, enjoyed bingo and craft nights, pool parties and an annual birthday party for Jesus.

The events are free of charge, but good will offerings are received. Snacks will be provided. To register, call the church office at 717-872-4571.
