Ladies Night Out to host "Kit/Kat Wellness Night"

The Ladies Night Out group from Millersville Community Church will host two speakers with a focus on wellness at its meeting on Friday, Sept. 13. The church is located at 242 Bender Road, Millersville, and the event will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Ladies will enjoy a time of fellowship and healthy snacks followed by the presentations. All women in the community are welcome to attend.

The first speaker at the Kit/Kat Wellness Night will be Kathrin "Kat" Grimm, who is a wellness instructor. After graduating with a Master of Science in exercise physiology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Grimm pursued her passion of educating people about health and wellness. She has worked as a wellness coordinator and coach for more than eight years.

Grimm is an ACE certified personal trainer and behavior change specialist, a certified ACSM well-being coach, and a CDC lifestyle coach, and she is certified in first aid and CPR.

Grimm's presentation will focus on living a healthy lifestyle through disease prevention, healthy meal planning, and SMART goals as well as coping with challenges.

The second speaker will be Katherine "Kit" Pearson, who is a yoga instructor. Pearson graduated from St. Joesph's University in Philadelphia with a bachelor's degree in marketing and a minor in communications.

While working in corporate America in Manhattan, Pearson took a weekly yoga class, which turned into a daily practice. In 2020 during the pandemic, Pearson signed up for her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. At Hudson Yoga Project, now Yoga Renew, she completed the course to become a certified yoga instructor. She taught at the Hoboken Crunch Signature Gym and conducted private and small group lessons. Since moving to Lancaster, she has made plans to start teaching again in the next few years and establish a local yoga practice.

Pearson will speak about how yoga helps people explore their mind-body connection and how incorporating even a short daily practice can have a positive impact on a person's overall health. This will be followed by a demonstration with beginner postures and modifications for those with injuries or limited mobility.
