LAMS Holds Community Service Project

Lititz Area Mennonite School (LAMS) held its 35th year of Trash-a-Thon on Oct. 7. Students, staff members, grandparents, and parent volunteers headed out into the community wearing bright, safety yellow T-shirts to pick up litter during the school day and returned to fill a 10-yard box dumpster donated by Good's Disposal Services.

Trash-a-Thon was intended to help students learn the importance of keeping the landscape clean while putting into practice one of the school's core values based on 1 Peter 4:10, serving others. They enjoyed an ice cream reward from Weaver Markets at the end of the day.

Trash-a-Thon also works as a school fundraiser as students ask people to sponsor them for picking up litter. Various local businesses donated prizes to the families with the most sponsors. Ephrata Strength and Conditioning sponsored the event T-shirts.
