Lancaster Chamber Singers To Perform Christmas Concerts

The Lancaster Chamber Singers will perform Christmas concerts on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church United Church of Christ, 247 S. Market St., Elizabethtown, and on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. at St. Edward's Episcopal Church, 2453 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster.

The program will feature beloved carols, baroque masterpieces, memorable new compositions, and a sing-along opportunity for the audience.

This year, the group is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of American composer Alice Parker and will perform her arrangements of the classic carols "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen," "Fum, Fum, Fum," and "I Saw Three Ships." The singers will also present their first performance of a new setting of Robert Frost's poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," composed by Eric Whitacre, and the world premiere of "Peace Forever Shall Reign," a new composition by local composer and Lancaster Chamber Singers member Lyndon Gehman.
