The Lancaster Chorale will present its spring concerts on Saturday, May 2, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m. Tenor soloist Timothy Bentch will join the 100-member choir for performances in Gardner Theatre at Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster.

The chorale's program will feature Gabriel Faure's "Requiem," John Leavitt's "Missa Festiva," and "Behold the Lamb" by Dottie Rambo. Bruce Gerlach, who directs the group, has also included anthems by Gounod, Mendelssohn, and Mozart. A 25-piece professional orchestra will accompany the chorale, which draws singers from throughout Lancaster County.

Bentch, who holds a master's degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, has sung with philharmonic orchestras throughout Europe and elsewhere. He was based in Hungary for 12 years, and his singing has been featured on many classical albums. He is currently the lead pastor at Mount Joy Mennonite Church in Lancaster.

Gerlach discovered his love for choral singing and conducting at Penn Manor High School in Millersville. After earning a doctorate in choral conducting from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky., Gerlach was a music professor for many years at the College of the Ozarks, near Branson, Mo. He and his wife, Margie, returned to his native Lancaster County when he retired.
