The Friends of the Tanger Arboretum will hold the Fall Seasonal Gathering Tour on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. The tour will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Horticulturist Jeffrey Hazlett will lead attendees on a walking tour through the arboretum to take in the changing of the seasons through vibrant fall colors, ornamental trees, and pollinator gardens.

Hazlett is the vice president of the board of the Friends of the Tanger Arboretum and past president of the organization. He studied horticulture at Penn State University and is currently the president of Ever Green Tree & Lawn Care in Lancaster. He is a volunteer for the Friends of the Tanger Arboretum and LancasterHistory.

There is an admission fee, with a discount for people under 18. Friends of the Tanger Arboretum members will receive complimentary admission, but should still register for the program. Advance tickets are recommended, as the program has limited capacity. AHS Reciprocal Admission Program members may register for tickets in advance and must show a valid membership card upon checking in. AHS members should contact Miller with any questions or to register for tickets in advance.

A Collections Up Close program titled "Seasonal Foods in the Garden Spot" will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. Lancaster County is known as the Garden Spot of America because of its rich and fertile farmland. Local food traditions have been influenced by these natural resources as well as by Lancaster's diverse communities like the German-speaking immigrants who arrived in the 18th century. In this Collections Up Close program, attendees will explore recipes, diaries, photographs, and business records to gain a deeper appreciation for the county's food-related history. In Collections Up Close tours, LancasterHistory staff members and visiting experts highlight documents, photos, and artifacts from LancasterHistory's collections. There is an admission fee, with a discount for LancasterHistory members. Capacity is limited.

LancasterHistory will host its Fall Fest on Sunday, Oct. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. Attendees may relax by fire pits and enjoy fall fare and drinks, children's activities, a pop-up historic artifacts table, music from Mark DeRose & the Dreadnoughts, an exclusive Foxduck print poster station, and more. Proceeds will benefit the education and public history programs of LancasterHistory. The ticket fee is discounted for people under age 18.

LancasterHistory also announced exhibitions.

"Black Lancastrians in the Arts: A Lasting Legacy" is currently on display, highlighting the music, films, and performances of artists like Madeline Anderson and The Tranells through historical images in LancasterHistory's archives.

"Thieves and Vagabonds: A History of Law and Justice in Lancaster County" will open on Friday, Nov. 17. The exhibit will chronicle key moments in the history of law and justice in Lancaster County from the 18th to 20th centuries.
