LancasterHistory, 230 N. President Ave., Lancaster, has scheduled a variety of events for July. To register for activities, visit http://www.lancasterhistory.org or call 717-392-4633.

Story times will be offered every Thursday in July at 10 a.m. for children age 12 and under. A museum educator or volunteer will read aloud from a book centered on a historical theme and then lead a craft or activity inspired by the theme. The book selections will be "Grandma Lisa's Humming, Buzzing, Chirping Garden" by Lisa Doseff, illustrated by Duncan Robertson, July 13; "Counting on Katherine" by Helaine Becker, illustrated by Dow Phumiruk, on July 20; and "Elizabeth Leads the Way: Elizabeth Cady Stanton and the Right to Vote" by Tanya Lee Stone, illustrated by Rebecca Gibbon, on July 27. The program is free, but registration is required. Story times will take place outdoors unless it rains, in which case the events will be moved indoors. One adult age 18 or older should attend for every two children or every household.

Creating Habitat for Butterflies is planned for Saturday, July 29, at 10 a.m., offered by the Friends of the Tanger Arboretum and presenter Debra Carman. Attendees will learn about the habitat elements necessary for the survival of butterflies from egg to adult, as well as the critical ecological role native plants and butterflies play in food webs. Carman, a Penn State Master Gardener in York County, will discuss multiple species of butterflies commonly found in Pennsylvania and display live caterpillars during the question-and-answer session. There is a fee, with a discount for those under 18. Friends of the Tanger Arboretum members will receive complimentary admission, but should still register for the program. Advance tickets are recommended, as the program has limited capacity. American Horticultural Society Reciprocal Admission Program members may register for tickets in advance and must show a valid membership card upon checking in; to learn more, contact Emily Miller at emily.miller@lancasterhistory.org.

The annual Music on the Lawn series will open on July 29 with a concert from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring folk, roots, and blues music from Big Sky Quartet. There is a fee for nonmember adults age 18 and up, and the concert is free for children age 17 and under and for members. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door with cash or card. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, foldable chairs, and picnics. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Anyone who requires accommodations may notify Annie Weeks at 717-392-4633, ext. 134, or annie.weeks@lancasterhistory.org in advance. In the event of inclement weather, the decision to hold or postpone the concert will be made at noon on July 29, and ticketholders will be notified. The rain date for this event is Sunday, July 30, from 1 to 3 p.m.

LancasterHistory invites the public to view its exhibit "Lancaster in the '60s," which examines the issues of conflict, resolution, and protest in Lancaster County during the 1660s, 1760s, 1860s, and 1960s. The exhibition will close on Saturday, Sept. 16.
