Landis Valley Posts Programs

Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum, 2451 Kissel Hill Road, Lancaster, will offer a variety of classes and workshops this winter. There is a per-person fee for each program, and registration is required.

Hands-on craft classes will be held on Saturdays on the second floor of the Landis Valley Museum Store. The fee for each class covers the costs of supplies and materials. Classes will include Leather Dice Cup from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 11, Continuous Weave Market Basket from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 25, Spool Felt Flower Garden from 9 a.m. to noon on March 4, Fraktur and False Grain Frame from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 11, Spring Spool Trees from 9 a.m. to noon on March 18, and Peanut Basket from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or Scratched Eggs from 10 a.m. to noon on March 25.

Introduction to Blacksmithing will be available on three separate dates. The program will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 18, March 18, and April 15. The fees include materials.

Basic Bake Oven Cooking will be offered twice. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 25 and March 4. Materials are included in the course fee.

A Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on March 25. At this make-and-take class, participants will learn how to splice a living stick of one type of apple tree onto a different variety of apple tree. Participants should bring a sharp knife and dress in layers. Each attendee will get to take home two trees. There will be many apple varieties from which to choose.
