Landis Valley slates events

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum, 2451 Kissel Hill Road, Lancaster, has posted upcoming events.

Landis Valley will host the 35th annual Herb & Garden Faire on Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The event will take place rain or shine. The Faire, featuring plants from Landis Valley Museum's Heirloom Seed Project, will also offer heirloom, native, and other hard-to-find varieties to purchase from vendors spread out over the historic village area of the site. There is a fee for tickets, with discounts for seniors age 65 and up and children ages 6 to 11. Children age 5 and under will be admitted for free.

Two Hands-On Crafts classes are planned, and there is a fee for each class. Spinning on the Great Wheel will take place on Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; beginning Spinning Class is a prerequisite. A two-session Make a Fraktur Family Tree class will be offered on Saturdays, June 10 and 17, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Landis Valley has also announced that the interior of the schoolhouse and the 1815 Brick House will be painted early this summer.

The schoolhouse painting project will start in late June and be completed in mid-July. In addition to interior painting, loose plaster will also be repaired. The schoolhouse interior will be closed while being painted.

The final phase of interior work on the 1815 Brick House will be painting of the newly plastered walls. The project was delayed by the pandemic shutdown and contracting issues. When completed, the building will be reopened refurnished and with new exhibits.
