Landis Valley to reopen historic house

Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum will reopen the ground floor of the 1815 Brick Farm House on Friday, Sept. 1. The building has been closed for repairs, and the project was delayed due to the museum's pandemic closure and issues with contracting.

The interior work included re-securing historic ceiling plaster to its lath, repairing water damage to walls, and painting all of the walls and woodwork. New exhibit panels tell the story of the generations of the Landis family that lived in the house as well as other facets of life in Landis Valley. In addition, the front porch was rebuilt, and the rain gutters were replaced.

Prior to the building's closure, it could only be viewed during a tour or when staffed. The house will now reopen as a self-guided building.
