LBC names Roper as Alumnus of the Year

Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary & Graduate School (LBC) has named Sharon Roper the 2023 Alumnus of the Year.

A 1988 graduate and elementary education major at LBC - where she was also a resident assistant and student-athlete - Roper went on to earn a master's degree in educational leadership from Regent University in 1995. Today, she is the high school principal at Fredericksburg Christian School (FCS), where she has served since her LBC graduation 35 years ago. Past positions have included dean of students, director of development, athletic director, guidance counselor, physical education teacher and elementary teacher.

An LBC Corporation Member, Roper is also active at Spotswood Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, where she taught Sunday school in the past. FCS is also active in the Fredericksburg community, and Roper enjoys serving with her students in each ministry the school supports.

Roper's family represents an LBC living legacy, with three generations of members of the Roper and Shaeffer families tied to the college. Several family members also serve at FCS.

Roper was scheduled to speak in chapel at her alma mater on Sept. 28 and take part in LBC homecoming activities on Sept. 29 and 30.
