The annual spring orchestra and band concert at LBC will feature community musicians performing music from a variety of genres and eras with LBC students. Set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, in Good Shepherd Chapel, the concert will feature the College Community String Orchestra, College Community Wind Ensemble, and Student String Quartet. Doris Hall-Gulati, director of instrumental studies, conducts the orchestra and mentors the quartet, while Rachel Sidebothom, director of music education studies, leads the Community Wind Ensemble.

For the April 16 concert, the Community String Orchestra will perform works from the Baroque Era to contemporary pieces by composers such as Boyce, Warlock, and Coleridge-Taylor, as well as a brand-new work by LBC junior Samuel Scott Gross, a composition major.

The Community Wind Ensemble will present "American Hymn Tune Sketches" by John Prescott, "Dusk" by Steven Bryant, "Alan Silvestri: A Night at the Movies" arranged by Michael Brown, and a John Philip Sousa march.

LBC's Student String Quartet consists of senior Anna Greiner on violin, senior Gabriella Pettis-Schulz on violin, 2022 graduate Sarah Ziegler on viola, and senior Lydia Talbott on cello. It will perform works by Hovanhess and Lefebvre. The group will also feature two student guest soloists, junior Juliana Anderson on trumpet and senior Luke Reuben on piano.

Additional community musicians are welcome to the groups for future performances as early as the fall. Contact Hall-Gulati regarding the orchestra at dhallgulati@lbc.edu. Contact Sidebothom for information regarding the community band at rsidebothom@lbc.edu.
