LCOB Sets International Fun Day

Lancaster Church of the Brethren (LCOB), 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, will host its fifth annual International Fun Day on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the church grounds. If it rains, activities will move indoors.

Representatives of about 20 countries will set up table displays with information, activities, artwork, and food representing their countries. Attendees can learn and sample food, and children will be given a passport to receive stickers at each location they visit. When the passport is filled, they will receive a small prize.

Some of the countries and regions that will be represented include Afghanistan, Australia, Bahamas, China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Mexico/Central America, Nigeria, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, and The Netherlands. Signs will acknowledge parts of the world that are plagued by violence and encourage prayers for peace.

Dancers from the Paloma School of Irish Dance will perform at 10 a.m. The United States will be represented by a free hot dog lunch and local musician Jimmy Gagliardi and friends, who will perform family-friendly music throughout the event. Other attractions will include face painting and a bounce house for children. A drawing for adult attendees of gift baskets created by Dee Zimmerman will take place at 12:45 p.m. Attendees must be present to win.
