LDHS students perform at music festivals

Students from Lower Dauphin High School (LDHS) were recently selected to perform at events presented by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA).

Three LDHS musicians attended the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association's Region 5 Band Festival held Feb. 22 to 24 at Eastern York High School.

The students, Ashley Jilek and Adrian Olweiler, clarinet, and Micah Fox, French horn, earned their spots at the band festival after successfully auditioning at the District 7 band festival earlier in the year. The 15-county Region 5 Band was conducted by Margaret Underwood of Western Carolina University.

Additionally, three LDHS vocalists performed in the PMEA Music Region 5 Choral Festival held on March 8 and 9,

Seniors Marina Weidman, soprano; Kaitlyn Hoffman, alto; and Nathan Wolfe, tenor, earned their spots at the choral festival after successfully auditioning at the District 7 chorus festival earlier in the year. The 15-county Region 5 Chorus festival was held at Messiah University.

The students were prepared for the festival by Elizabeth Colpo, director of choirs at LDHS.
