Leacock bazaar - back with a twist

Although Leacock Presbyterian Church has held a Christmas bazaar for a number of years, the 2024 event will be a little different. "This year, we are inviting vendors into the space," said organizer Angela Killian. In the past, any items for sale at the event were made or donated by church members.

The bazaar returned in 2023 after a hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions. For 2024, crafters, bakers, and other vendors were offered tables in exchange for a donated amount.

The annual Leacock Presbyterian Church bazaar will be held at the church, 3181 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include Christmas music, visits from Santa, food, and more.

The church will offer Christmas themed items for purchase, and vendors selling jewelry, knitted items, and local honey will be on-site. In addition, the church is holding a toy and book sale featuring gently used items for preschoolers through first-graders.

The plan is for Santa to be present to meet visitors and take part in photo opportunities throughout the event.

The church is known for its tradition of selling plated cookies and bonbons at the event. "We will have artisan baked breads for sale," said Killian. Food items for breakfast, along with coffee, will be available to eat in or for takeout, as will lunch items, which will include homemade soup, barbecue, and hot dogs.

According to Killian, the event is more than a fundraiser for the church. "We want the community to have a holiday experience," she noted.

All funds raised by the sale will benefit church projects. More information about the church may be found at http://www.leacockpres.org.
