LEADS Seeks Flower Basket Sponsors

Lancaster's Economic Action for Downtown's Success (LEADS) has begun its annual Adopt-A-Basket fundraiser. Proceeds will go toward nearly 300 flower baskets that will be hung from lampposts in downtown Lancaster.

In recent years, LEADS added additional flower baskets to its program to include West King Street from Prince to Charlotte streets. The baskets are adopted by businesses and members of the community for a fee, which includes daily watering and care from May through October. The baskets can be adopted in memory or honor of someone chosen by the donor, and a plaque with that designation will hang from each basket. Donors also can include a photo on their adopted basket's plaque for an additional fee. The flowers will be grown by Frey's Greenhouses on Columbia Avenue in Lancaster.

To adopt a basket by Tuesday, May 10, visit http://www.lancasterleads.org/adopt-a-basket. If supplies remain, baskets will continue to be available for purchase after May 10. The baskets will be hung on Sunday, May 15.

LEADS is an all-volunteer group that also provides all city holiday decorations, including the Penn Square Christmas tree. LEADS is an all-volunteer organization that operates solely through donations.
