Library Friends set spring bus trip

The Friends of the Lititz Public Library are planning a "DuPont Experience" bus trip as a fundraiser for the library. The excursion on Thursday, May 11, will include a visit to the Nemours Estate and the Hagley Museum and Library.

The du Pont family's influence on Delaware has remained strong over the centuries. Five generations lived at Hagley estate. A later generation built and lived at the Nemours Estate, which has a Gilded Age design. Attendees will learn about the history of the du Ponts and see their homes and gardens.

Lunch will be at Buckley's Tavern in Centerville, Del. It is located in an 1817 building that has been a home, a tollgate, a taproom and an ice cream shop. Today, it is known for comfort cuisine prepared by chef Tom Hannum, who was previously the executive chef at the Hotel du Pont.

A ticket price will be charged per person, which includes entrance to both museums, lunch and motor coach transportation.

Tickets are available for purchase at the Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road. Tickets are not available to purchase through the mail or online.

Motor coach transportation will be provided by Elite Coach. The bus will leave promptly at 8:15 a.m. from the library and will return back to the library at 6 p.m.
