Library plans activities

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming. All programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and require preregistration. For more information and to register, visit http://www.mslibrary.org or call 717-653-1510.

The Friends of Milanof-Schock Library will hold a mini bake sale on Saturday, May 10, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

The library will be closed on Saturday, May 24, and Monday, May 26.

Two food trucks will be at the library on Thursday, May 1. W Donuts will offer fresh doughnuts from 10 a.m. to noon, and Traveling J's will offer Middle Eastern foods from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Friends of Milanof-Schock Library will hold their annual used book sale at Donegal High School, 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy, from Thursday to Saturday, June 19 to 21.

Programs for children and teens will include Family Story Times on Wednesdays and Thursdays from May 1 to 22 at 10:30 a.m.; Fun Fort Friday for families on May 9 from 5 to 6 p.m.; Teen Chill & Draw with Hanna on May 10 at 1 p.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 months to 2 years; and Fun Family Bingo on Tuesday, May 13, at 6 p.m.

The library will show the movie "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" on Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. Popcorn will be provided, and attendees may bring their own snacks and covered drinks.

On May 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., people may stop by the library for a free comic book, compliments of Joe from The Comic Store in Lancaster. Comics will vary.

Super Science will be offered for kids age 4 and up on Tuesday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m.

Lego Challenge will be held on May 6 at 6 p.m. Families will be asked to make a Lego creation based on a given theme.

Activities have been planned especially for homeschoolers age 7 and up. The programs will include Homeschool Art on May 13 at 10:30 a.m. and Homeschool STEM/History Mystery on Tuesday, May 27, at 10:30 a.m.

A Kraybill Student Art Show will be held on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Students will display their artworks.

Community members are welcome to come to the library on Friday, May 23, from 5 to 6 p.m. to help Miss Jan get the float ready for her final Memorial Day parade.

People may also ride on the float in the parade on May 24.

Teen D&D will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 1 to 4 p.m. The program is usually held on the fourth Saturday of every month, and this month's date represents a departure from the usual schedule. The group is currently full, but anyone who would like to participate in the future may contact Jan Betty at jbetty@mslibrary.org.

Activities for adults will include Adult Game Night on Wednesdays, May 7 and 21, at 5 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on May 12 at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on May 10 at 9:15 a.m.; and Book Discussion Group - Lit Lovers on May 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Money and Investing for People Who Hate Money and Investing will be held on Monday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m. Glen Morrison, a retired certified financial planner, will share common myths and misconceptions about money and investing.

The library will host a plant exchange on May 10. Attendees may bring labeled plants in nonreturnable containers to the library at 9:30 a.m. and take home plants from 10 to 11 a.m. in the courtyard.

The library's board will meet on Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m.

The Friends of the Library will hold their monthly group meeting on May 12 at 6:30 p.m.

A Quilt Study will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 12:30 p.m.

The Friends of the Library will hold book bingo on May 21 at 2 p.m.

Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, will meet on May 21 at 6:30 p.m. No registration is required.

The Classical Guitar Society of Lancaster will present an informal concert on May 31 at 2 p.m.
