Library plans August activities

Although SummerQuest will draw to a close in August, there is still time to enjoy the final weeks of activities. All reading and event minutes and GO Get Outdoors! hiking post codes must be entered in Beanstack by Sunday, Aug. 20.

Upcoming SummerQuest programs include Baby and Toddler Story Time for children from birth to age 3, Wednesday, Aug. 2; Kindermusik for children from birth through age 3, Wednesday, Aug. 9; and Preschool Story Time for children ages 3 to 5, Friday, Aug. 4. These programs will run from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., and reservations are required.

A Book Party and Virtual Visit with Ebony LaDelle, author of "Love Radio," will be offered for teens - people ages 12 to 18 - on Aug. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. The book party will take place from 1 to 2 p.m., complete with refreshments and a "Love Radio" playlist selected by the author. From 2 to 3 p.m., LaDelle will join teens virtually for a conversation about becoming a writer, her influences and "Love Radio." Anyone who cannot attend in person may join via Zoom from 2 to 3 p.m. Sign up to receive the Zoom link. The first 24 teens who register for the in-person events will receive a free copy of "Love Radio."

The library will host its SummerQuest Celebration of Readers on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include cupcake decorating, a selfie station, the Bubble Lady, a bounce house, and button making. No registration is required.

The library will also offer its year-round programs.

Builder's Club, for people ages 6 to 12, will be held on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Tween Programs for people ages 9 to 11 will be held on Tuesdays, Aug. 8 and 15, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. The Danger Club will meet on Aug. 8, and the Library Squad will meet on Aug. 15 to shape library programs for tweens.

The Teen Leadership group will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Teens are invited to plan projects and programs for the teen space at the library. If interested, call Kayla.

The Spoiler Alert! teen book review group will meet via Zoom on Aug. 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Reservations are requested.

Manga Book Club for teens will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. This program will occur after the library is closed to the public. Only teens attending this program will be allowed inside.

Stitch and Chat groups, for knitters and crocheters, will meet on Thursdays, Aug. 3 and 17, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. and on Aug. 1 and 15 from 1 to 2:45 p.m.

Reiki Meditation with Miranda will take place on Aug. 3 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Green Thumb Garden Club will meet on Thursday, Aug. 10, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Melanie Markowski will present "Create a Half Whiskey Barrel Water Lily or Lotus Pond."

York Chess Club, for people of all ages, will be held on Aug. 1, 8, and 15 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library Branch Support Group will gather on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 5:30 p.m.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will be represented at the Hellam Carnival on Wednesday, Aug. 23, to Saturday, Aug. 26. Carnival attendees may visit the Friends' booth for information about the community library and to check out the display of used books to purchase. The friend will also offer peach sundaes at a stand under the bleachers. All proceeds will benefit Kreutz Creek Library.
