Library posts activities

Kreutz Creek Library (KCL), 66 Walnut Springs Road, York, will offer programs and services to the community. For details and registration, call the library at 717-252-4080 or visit http://www.yorklibraries.org.

First-graders and their families may visit KCL for the annual county-wide GOAL Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. GOAL stands for Grade One at the Library, and the program encourages every first-grader to sign up for a library card. The celebration will include a visit from author Laura Gehl and other activities.

KCL's other upcoming programs include Baby and Toddler Story Time for children from birth to age 3 on Wednesdays through Nov. 15 and Preschool Story Time for children ages 3 to 5 on Fridays through Nov. 17. These programs will run from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., and reservations are required. There will be no Preschool Story Time on Nov. 3.

A Fall Family Story Time with Miss Felicia will be held at Chick-fil-A, 2801 E. Market St., York, on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. Reservations are requested.

Builder's Club, for people ages 6 to 12, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The Danger Club, for tweens ages 9 to 11, will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.

Library Squad will not meet in November.

Life-Sized Candyland, for people of all ages, will be played during a drop-in event from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Project-based volunteering for teens ages 12 to 18 is also available. For more details or to offer an idea for a project, contact kreutzcreeklibrary@yorklibraries.org or Kayla at 717-252-4080.

The Teen Leadership group will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Teens are invited to plan projects and programs for the teen space at the library. If interested, call Kayla.

The Spoiler Alert! teen book review group will meet via Zoom on Nov. 2 from 5 to 6 p.m. Reservations are requested.

Manga Book Club for teens will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. This program will occur after the library is closed to the public. Only teens attending this program will be allowed inside.

Stitch and Chat groups, for knitters and crocheters, will meet on Nov. 2 and 16 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. and on Nov. 7 and 21 from 1 to 2:45 p.m.

Reiki Meditation with Miranda will take place on Nov. 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Green Thumb Garden Club will meet on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Melanie Markowski will present "Poinsettia Care - They're Not Your Grandma's Poinsettias Anymore!"

The Cookbook Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Attendees should bring a sweet or savory prepared dish related to the theme "Appetizers," along with a copy of the recipe. Reservations are required.

York Chess Club, for people of all ages, will be held on Tuesdays, Nov. 7, 14, and 21, from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Dementia Friends information session will be offered on Nov. 2 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Alison Sprankle from Dementia Friends PA will present information about dementia and how it affects people. After the presentation, from 2:30 to 5:45 p.m., memory screenings will be available. The screenings will check memory and other thinking skills, and they can indicate whether follow-up with a qualified health care professional is needed. Reservations are requested.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will host their fall online auction from Saturday, Nov. 4, at 8 a.m. to Saturday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m. Items will be posted at http://www.facebook.com/KCLAuction2021 in advance of the auction to allow time to browse before bidding starts. More details are forthcoming. All proceeds from the auction will benefit KCL.

A Very Special Holiday Story Time will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to wear pajamas to hear Beth Rebert present "The Polar Express."

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 5:30 p.m.
