Library Posts Calendar

Adamstown Area Library, 110 W. Main St., Adamstown, will host a variety of free programs and events for children and adults. To register, visit http://www.adamstownarealibrary.org/events. The library will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 20. During February, anyone who checks out a book that has a golden ticket inside will get a piece of candy at the circulation desk.

The Friends' Glance at Romance Book Sale will run through Tuesday, Feb. 14, while supplies last. Individuals may purchase a decorated bag of eight paperback books for a set fee.

The Reading Royals Winter Reading Challenge for children ages 5 to 15 will run through Saturday, Feb. 25. Participants must read 20 minutes per day for 20 days to receive a free kid's ticket to the Reading Royals game on Sunday, March 5. Any additional purchased adult tickets will result in a donation to the library.

Story time programs will include "Twinkling Stars" Baby Story Time for children from birth to age 2 on Thursdays at 10 a.m., Budding Bookworms Preschool Story Time for children ages 3 to 6 on Wednesdays at 10 and 11 a.m., and "The Young and the Restless" Toddler Time for children ages 2 to 3 on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Mother Goose on the Loose will be offered to children ages 2 to 5 on Mondays at 10 a.m.

Daytime Discoverers at the library will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. for students educated at home. Brandon Webb from Members 1st Federal Credit Union will present "What Is Money?"

A Macrame Workshop will be offered on Feb. 9 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for adults and older teens. Participants will learn how to make their own macrame wall hanging. All supplies and instruction will be provided. Registration is requested.

LEGO activity bag pickup for children ages 5 to 12 will be held on Monday, Feb. 13, while supplies last, with one per family. Teen Take and Make packet pickup for a yarn wrapped heart will be available on Monday, Feb. 20, while supplies last.

Drop-In STEAM will be held on Feb. 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. The activities will be Valentine's Day card design and a Valentine's engineering challenge. An adult is required to accompany children under age 8.

Young at Heart, for people age 60 and up, will be sponsored by REAL Life Community Services on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 9 to 11 a.m. For details, call 717-336-7797 or visit http://www.reallcs.org.

Maple Sugaring will begin at 3 p.m. on Feb. 15. Families will learn about history and the collecting and cooking of maple syrup. Participants will enjoy samples of maple syrup candy.

Almost Perfect Crimes, for teens and adults, will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. Participants will initially receive the Zoom link and the mini murder mystery story. Additional clues and evidence will be revealed during the meeting.

Facebook for Seniors will take place on Friday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. Topics in this brief seminar will be ways to use Facebook, creating a post, uploading and downloading photos, and protecting privacy online. Attendees should bring their phone, tablet, or laptop to get hands-on experience.

Teen Blind Date With a Book will take place all month. Teens may stop in during February to pick up a randomly chosen book to read. Teens who try at least one book may attend a book discussion on Monday, Feb. 27, at 3:30 p.m.

MJWK (Miss Jess Wants to Know) will be held during February, with a "Praiseworthy Pizza Places" theme. Teens are asked to stop in the young adult and teen graphic novel section of the library for the question of the month and to cast a vote. Results will be posted on the Facebook page at the end of the month.

Brighten Someone's Day packets will be available through Friday, March 31. Patrons are encouraged to pick up a packet and return the colored pictures to the library to be passed along to local seniors.
