Library posts event calendar

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming options. All library programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and do require preregistration. Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Several programs for children and teens will be available. Family Story Time will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays and include stories, songs, and a theme-based craft. Super Science for children age 3 and older will introduce elements of science seen in everyday life at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7. Adventures with Baby for caregivers and children ages 6 to 24 months will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 13, and feature songs and finger play.

Leaf Zentangle, a relaxing hour of calming music and nature sounds to help focus and relax, will begin at 6 p.m. on March 7. The program is recommended for teens or older kids and their family.

Home School Art Class will offer students age 7 and older an opportunity to create theme-inspired art based upon the works of a particular artist. The class will be offered on Thursday, March 9, at 1:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday, March 14, at 10:30 a.m.

Fun Fort Friday will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 10. The entire family is invited to visit the library while it is closed to build a reading fort among the shelves and tables. Attendees should bring blankets or sheets, a flashlight, and a drink. The library will provide clips and a snack.

A Lego Challenge will be held at 6 p.m. on March 14. Participating families will receive a shoebox full of Legos from which they need to create a finished product based on the night's theme.

Boredom Buster Family Movie Afternoon will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 1:30 p.m. Families are invited to enjoy popcorn and a family-friendly movie.

Homeschool STEM for students age 7 and older will be offered on Thursday, March 16, at 1:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday, March 21, at 10:30 a.m. Kids will learn about a STEM element and perform a simple experiment based on that element.

Fun Family Bingo for everyone age 7 and older will begin at 6 p.m. on March 21. Space is limited. Books will be given away as prizes.

Homeschool History Mystery will offer students age 7 and older a little bit of history, a little bit of writing, and the opportunity to learn about a mystery related to a real event in history. The class will be held twice at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, and at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28.

The library also offers programs and clubs for adults. Adult Game Night will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, and is open to any adult interested in board games and card games.

Closely Knit will meet at 1 p.m. on Mondays, March 13 and 27, and is open to individuals who knit or crochet. The group gathers for conversation while working on individual projects. Registration is not necessary.

The Friends of the Milanof-Schock Library will meet on March 13 at 6 p.m. New members are welcome.

Adult Book Bingo will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15. Winners will receive vouchers for books from the sale racks in the library.

Easy Writer Club will gather at 6:30 p.m. on March 15. Registration is not required. Adults are invited to bring a piece of writing to share with the group. Writers of all levels are welcome to attend.

Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club will meet on Saturday, March 18, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. All skill levels are welcome.

Swing Into Spring: Learn to Swing Dance will be offered at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 20. Participants will learn some basic swing dance moves.

Make-It Monday - "A Clean Slate" will begin at 6 p.m. on March 27. Participants age 16 and older will receive a blank garden slate. Paints and a variety of stencils will be provided, or attendees may paint freestyle.

Book Discussion Group - Lit Lovers will meet on Tuesday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m. The group will discuss "Black Cake" by Charmaine Wilkerson.

Mount Joy Rotary will hold its annual community paper shredding event at the library on Saturday, April 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. Mount Joy residents are invited to bring documents to be shredded in a safe way. Papers should be contained in cardboard boxes or paper bags, not plastic bins or bags.
