Library posts March schedule

The library will offer several ongoing programs. These activities include Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, March 3 and 17, at 10 a.m. and Tuesdays, March 11 and 25, at 6 p.m.; Baked Books Club on March 11 at 2 p.m.; Beginner Tai Chi Easy on Tuesday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m.; Lititz Game Club, for players age 10 and older, on Wednesdays, March 5 and 19, at 4:30 p.m.; Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County on March 5 at 6 p.m.; Painting Club on Wednesdays, March 12 and 26, at 12:30 p.m.; Great Decisions Discussion Group on March 12 at 6:30 p.m.; Exploring Growing Together Discussion Forum on Thursdays, March 13 and 27, at 11 a.m.; Lititz Garden Club on Thursday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m.; Writing Club on March 17 at 1 p.m.; Jane Austen Society on Tuesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m.; Accessible Yoga with Black Cat Yoga on Fridays, March 21 and 28, at 10 a.m.; and Red Rose Quilters Guild of Lancaster Embroidery Mini Group on March 26 at 1:30 p.m.

The Lititz Art Association will meet on Monday, March 24, at 6 p.m. The date reflects a change from the usual schedule.

Author Brooke Carlock will speak on March 3 at 6 p.m. Carlock lost her father, mother, stepmother, and 10-year-old daughter over the course of a year and a half. She was able to turn her grief journey into a message of hope. During the program, Carlock will discuss her approach to grief. Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing.

Members of the Blanketeers will gather to make blankets of various kinds for Project Linus on March 4 and 18 at 2 p.m.

The library will host a Spring Sips Wine Tasting on March 13 at 6 p.m. Doreen Hershey will share the fundamentals of wine tasting and provide samples of some beverages. Attendees must be age 21 or older.

The Lititz Historical Foundation will offer a presentation on Civil War photography on Saturday, March 15, at 1:30 p.m. Historian Steve Whitcomb will speak about the images, processes, and equipment that were used during the Civil War and famous people who were captured on film. This program will concentrate on photographers Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner.

Jill Spencer O'Leary of Shivaya Healing Arts will present a program on sound healing on March 19 at 6 p.m.

The Friends of the Lititz Library will hold a puzzle sale on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A variety of new and used puzzles will be offered, and all proceeds will benefit the library.

The Sewcial Sewing Club will meet on March 26 at 6 p.m. Attendees will work on individual projects; they must bring their own supplies, including a portable sewing machine and an extension cord.

The BYOB Book Club will meet on March 27 at 2 p.m. Participants should bring a book they are currently reading.

Fire in the Glen will perform at the library on March 27 at 6:30 p.m. The program will include Irish, Scottish and Maritime music as well as the group's own brand of Celtic eclectic. Admission is free.

During the Paws to Read program, children may read stories to trained therapy dogs. The program will be offered on Saturdays, March 8 and 22, at 10 a.m.

Cruise Into Kindergarten will meet on March 17 at 6:30 p.m. Cruise Into Kindergarten is geared to children ages 3 to 6 and is based on the national Every Child Ready to Read program. After hearing a story, children and caregivers will visit stations intended to help with skills that children need to start school.

Special themed story times will be offered on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. this winter. Preschool children ages 3 to 5 are invited to attend independently. Lil' Bakers Story Times will be offered each week from March 5 to 26. Children will enjoy food-related stories and will make a snack.
