Library posts March schedule

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

The library offers various activities regularly. In March, these will include Music and Movement, for kids birth to age 6 with a parent or other caregiver on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.; Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion on Monday, March 3, at 2 p.m.; Hooks and Needles Yarn Craft Club, for people of all ages who knit or crochet, on Monday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m.; and Lego Creation Club on Thursday, March 13, at 6 p.m.

The library will also offer Preschool Story Time, recommended for children ages 4 to 6, every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and Toddler Thursdays, recommended for children from birth to age 3, every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The March theme will be "Weather." Siblings are welcome to join in.

Teen Tuesdays will be held on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. The program will provide crafts, games, snacks, and more for tweens and teens. The upcoming dates and themes are March 4, Board Games Day; March 11, Social Issues (Artificial Intelligence); March 18, 3-Dux Dream Apartment; March 25, STEM Robots; and April 1, Poetry Slam.

Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or other caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever during Read with Pepper the Dog! on Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m.

Happy Birthday, Pennsylvania! will take place on Saturday, March 8, at noon. The event will celebrate King Charles II granting William Penn the charter to found the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The event will include a potluck lunch, a costume contest, and a dramatic reading of the entire charter. Guests are invited, but not required, to bring a dish to share. To participate in the costume contest, adults and children may attend in historical costume.

Homeschooling families are invited to attend a Lunch and Learn, Intro to Online Learning, on Saturday, March 15, at noon. The library will provide information about the resources it offers that can supplement homeschooling curricula. Attendees will have time to ask questions about specific research inquiries and individual library needs. Free pizza will be provided. Preregistration is required.

Researching Family History: Getting Started will be presented on Wednesday, March 26, at 2 p.m. Aimee Caya, the director of library and research services at LancasterHistory, will provide guidance on how to begin compiling family histories, with a focus on researching ancestors in Lancaster County.
