Library Posts November Programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

The Friends of Milanof-Schock Library will hold their traditional Election Day bake sale at the library on Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. or while supplies last. Proceeds will benefit the library.

The library will participate in the ExtraGive on Friday, Nov. 18. To donate, visit http://www.extragive.org between midnight and 11:59 p.m.

The library will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, and will be closed on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov 24.

Santa will visit the library on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon. A library card is not needed to attend, and each family will receive a complimentary photo with Santa and a treat to take home. The program is supported by the Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The library will host the following food trucks: On My Grind Coffee on Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Dutch Country Hand-Rolled Soft Pretzels on Thursday, Nov. 17, with times to be announced on the library website; and Cupcakes by Casey on Nov. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Fall Into Reading: The Youth Fall Reading Program will continue until Nov. 26. Forms are available at the library's front desk.

Activities will include story time for families at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays in November, except Nov. 23 and 24; Fun Fort Friday for families on Nov. 11 from 5 to 6 p.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m.; Homeschool Art Class on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 10:30 a.m. for people age 7 and up; Fun Family Bingo for people age 7 and up on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.; Homeschool STEM on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 10:30 a.m. for people age 7 and up; and Homeschool History Mystery on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10:30 a.m. for people age 7 and up.

A Celebrate Thanksgiving Family Story Time will be held on Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m. It will feature stories, songs and a craft.

During A Charlie Brown-Style Thanksgiving on Nov. 26 at 9:30 a.m., Miss Jan will serve Thanksgiving just like Snoopy and show "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving."

Programs for adults will include Adult Game Night on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m.; Quilt Study on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 12:30 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Nov. 14 and 28, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; a meeting of the Friends of the Milanof-Schock Library on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m.; adults-only bingo on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m.; Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, on Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m., with no registration required; A Gathering of Artists Club on Nov. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m.; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Lit Lovers Book Club discussing "The Four Winds" by Kristin Hannah on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m.; and Make-It Monday - "Cupcake Decorating with Tess" on Nov. 28 at 6 p.m.

Anyone who would like to honor a veteran may visit the library to complete an Honor Card by Nov. 9. The information will be displayed in the library on Thursday, Nov. 10; the library will be closed on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11. A library card is not needed to fill out an Honor Card.

The Fall Grounds Cleanup will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. Volunteers are needed; visit the library for information about signing up.

Award-winning author and newspaper reporter Bruce Mowday will present his newest book, "Lafayette at Brandywine: The Making of an American Hero," on Monday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m.
