Library posts September schedule

Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, will offer a variety of activities to the community. For more details and registration, contact the library at 717-626-2255 or visit http://www.lititzlibrary.org.

The library will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day.

The Friends of the Lititz Library will hold a book sale on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 6, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Sept. 7, a fee per bag will be charged starting at noon. The sale will include fiction and nonfiction books, movies, puzzles, and more. In addition to the three-day sale, the library maintains a used bookshelf of items available for sale daily when the library is open.

The Jane Austen Society will hold a fundraiser tea on Saturday, Sept. 14, from noon to 2 p.m. with proceeds benefiting the library. The fee includes tea, refreshments, music, a presentation, and a giveaway drawing and auction. To register, visit http://www.lititzlibrary.org or call 717-626-2255.

The Friends of the Lititz Library will hold a jewelry sale on Friday, Sept. 20, from 1 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Used and vintage jewelry will be available for purchase.

The library will offer several ongoing programs. These activities include Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, on Monday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m., with no meeting on Sept. 2; Baked Books Club on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m.; Beginner Tai Chi Easy on Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m.; Lititz Game Club, for players age 10 and older, on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 4:30 p.m.; Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m.; Painting Club on Wednesdays, Sept. 11 and 25, at 12:30 p.m.; Great Decisions Discussion Group on Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m.; Exploring Growing Together Discussion Forum on Thursday, Sept. 12 and 26, at 11 a.m.; Lititz Garden Club on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m.; Writing Club on Sept. 16 at 1 p.m.; Jane Austen Society on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m.; the Lititz Art Association meeting on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.; the Art of Your Energy Meditation Group on Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m.; and Literary Travelers Book Club on Friday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m.

Members of the Blanketeers will gather to make blankets of various kinds for Project Linus on Tuesdays, Sept. 3 and 17, at 2 p.m.

A 9/11 Widow's Story will be presented on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m. by Ann Van Hine, who lost her husband, a New York City firefighter, on 9/11. She shares her story of personal loss amid a national tragedy in her book, "Pieces Falling: Navigating 9/11 With Faith, Family & the FDNY."

The Red Rose Quilter's Guild of Lancaster's Embroidery Mini Group will meet on Sept. 25 at 1:30 p.m. The club focuses on machine embroidery.

The BYOB Book Club will meet on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. Attendees should bring a book they are currently reading.

Create a Teacup Succulent Garden, a class for adults, will be held on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. All materials will be provided.

WellSpan and the American Heart Association will offer free blood pressure screenings and heart health wellness information on Sept. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. No registration is needed.

Accessible Yoga with Black Cat Yoga will take place on Sept. 27 at 10 a.m.

The Knotwork Band will present a concert on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 1:30 p.m. The trio performs Celtic folk music, both traditional and modern.

During the Paws to Read program, children may read stories to trained therapy dogs. The program will be offered on Sept. 14 and 28 at 10 a.m.

Cruise Into Kindergarten will meet on Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Cruise Into Kindergarten is geared to children ages 3 to 6 and is based on the national Every Child Ready to Read program. After hearing a story, children and caregivers will visit stations intended to help with skills that children need to start school.

Age-specific indoor story times for children 6 months to 5 years old will take place between Sept. 16 and Thursday, Nov. 21. Story times will include songs, stories, nursery rhymes, and playtime. Some Little Steps and Preschool Story Times will be offered simultaneously to accommodate siblings. Registration is required.

Backyard Story Times will be offered in the library's back yard, weather permitting, from Sept. 11 to Thursday, Oct. 31. The programs will take place on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required for each session. Kids of all ages are welcome, and attendees are advised to bring blankets or chairs. Parking is not available on Sixth Street.

The fall StoryWalk is "The Belonging Tree" by Maryann Cocca-Leffler.
