Library sets activities

The library will offer several ongoing programs. These activities include Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Aug. 5 and 19, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m.; Beginner Tai Chi Easy on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 6:30 p.m.; Lititz Game Club, for players age 10 and older, on Wednesdays, Aug. 7 and 21, at 4:30 p.m.; Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County on Aug. 7 at 6 p.m.; Painting Club on Wednesdays, Aug. 14 and 28, at 12:30 p.m.; Great Decisions Discussion Group on Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m.; Writing Club on Aug. 19 at 1 p.m.; Jane Austen Society on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 6:30 p.m.; the Lititz Art Association meeting on Aug. 27 at 6 p.m.; and the Art of Your Energy Meditation GroupĀ on Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m.

A three-part journaling series, Time: Tyrant or Treasure: 11 Steps to Embrace Life in All Its Messiness, will be held on Thursdays, Aug. 1, 8, and 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Attendees will learn an 11-step approach and journaling techniques to help them live with imperfection in yourself and others.

Members of the Blanketeers will gather to make blankets of various kinds for Project Linus on Aug. 6 and 20 at 2 p.m.

Blood pressure screenings will be available free of charge on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. No preregistration is needed.

Accessible Yoga with Black Cat Yoga will take place on Friday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m.

The BYOB Book Club will meet on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. Attendees should bring a book they are currently reading.

Temple Avenue will perform a concert on Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. Formed by Lancaster musicians and their friends at Temple University, the band plays jazz and swing tunes. The concert will be outdoors, and attendees should bring a blanket or chairs. In the event of inclement weather, including excessive heat, the event will move inside.

Children age 9 and up may make a duct tape flower pen craft on Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. Supplies will be provided.

Lancaster County Department of Parks & Recreation will hold the Water Olympics on Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. for children ages 5 to 12. Children will be given team challenges to solve that relate to water.

The Teen SummerZine program will offer youths ages 12 to 19 who enjoy creative writing or art an opportunity to learn from professionals and create a print magazine together. Participants may interact with Adam Perry, an author of spooky and magical fiction who is also a magician, on Tuesdays, Aug. 6 and 20, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in person or via livestream on Zoom. During the Paws to Read program, children may read stories to trained therapy dogs. The program will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays, Aug. 5 and 12, and Aug. 22 as well as from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Lititz Farmers Market will sponsor a story time in the Lititz Springs Park on Broad Street on Aug. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Giant will offer its Mini Chef Creations program at the library on Friday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. for children ages 3 to 8. Kids will learn about healthy foods and make a healthy snack.

A family-friendly movie with a PG rating will be shown in the library's backyard on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets, and the library will provide popcorn and popsicles.

Local children's author Jessica Whipple will share her picture books "I Think I Think a Lot" and "Enough Is ..." during a story time on Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. Children will also make a craft.

Wacky Wednesday: Space Adventure will take place on Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. Kids will hear a story and explore hands-on stations. This program will provide focus on school readiness skills and STEM activities.

The Summer StoryWalk is "Explorers of the Wild" by Cale Atkinson.
