Library sets activities

The Kreutz Creek SummerQuest Reader Celebration will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will include the Bubble Lady, a bounce house, a '70s music dance party, a make-your-own-adventure snack, and a selfie station. Flinchbaugh's will provide a tractor activity. No registration is required.

Sunday, Aug. 18, will be the final day to log SummerQuest minutes in Beanstack and complete GO York hikes. Also on this date will be the parade for 800-minute achievers at 1 p.m. and a York Revolution game at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, is the final day for SummerQuest prize pickup.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will be at the library to accept book donations on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from noon to 6 p.m. and on Monday, Aug. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Baby and Toddler Story Times will not be held in August but will resume in September.

Preschool Story Time, for kids ages 3 to 5, will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The program will include a visit from Kelly Ford, an environmental education specialist with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and opportunities to view bugs close up. Registration is requested.

A Fun with Phoe(nix) Story Time and Craft will be held on Aug. 19 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The program is geared for preschoolers, and the August theme will be "Ocean Adventure." Reservations are requested.

Author Melissa Trempe will share her new picture book, "Ladybug Launch," on Thursday, Aug. 1, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The program is for children age 6 and up.

Bookmark Making and Scrapbooking for All will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. for people of all ages. Attendees may make bookmarks and scrapbook pages from wallpaper, scrapbooking paper, card stock, and ribbons. They should bring memorabilia, and the library will supply a scrapbooking page, glue, and scissors.

A produce exchange will take place in the library courtyard on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Community members may bring their surplus produce to the library and exchange it for other garden edibles. People may also exchange a canned good for homegrown produce, and the nonperishable items will be donated to a local food pantry.

Builder's Club, for children ages 6 to 12, will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 17, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Activities for tweens ages 9 to 11 will be offered on Tuesdays, Aug. 13 and 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Danger Club will meet on Aug. 13 for a "Minute to Win It" style competition, and Library Squad will gather on Aug. 20.

Teens may visit with Birdie the therapy dog on Aug. 6 from 5 to 6 p.m.

A Teen Anime Watch Party will be held on Aug. 20 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Manga Book Club for teens will take place on Aug. 17 at 1:30 p.m. This program will occur after the library is closed to the public. Only teens attending this program will be allowed inside.

The Spoiler Alert! teen group will meet on Aug. 1 from 5 to 6 p.m. via Zoom to discuss books, TV shows, movies, video games, and more.

Stitch and Chat groups, for knitters and crocheters, will meet on Aug. 1 and 15 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. and on Aug. 6 and 20 from 1 to 2:45 p.m.

Reiki Meditation with Miranda will take place on Aug. 3 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

York Chess Club, for people of all ages, will be held on Aug. 6, 13, and 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Green Thumb Garden Club will meet on Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Melanie Markowski will present "Dried Flowers to Easily Grow in Your Garden."

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 5:30 p.m.
