Library Sets Programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

The library is open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Beginning Saturday, Sept. 11, Saturday hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

All children and family programs will be in-person only and outside when possible.

During Story Time, set for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout September, families may enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week.

Fun Fort Friday, set for Sept. 10 from 5 to 6 p.m., will give families an opportunity to build a reading fort among the shelves and tables. They should bring blankets and sheets, a flashlight, and a beverage.

Children ages 4 and 5 are invited to Preschool Super Science at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, where Miss Jan will lead science-based activities that introduce elements of science.

During the Lego Challenge on Sept. 14 at 6 p.m., participating families will be given a box of Legos to build around the night's theme.

Home School Art Class, set for Thursday, Sept. 16, at 1:30 p.m., invites kids age 7 and up to create theme-inspired art based upon the works of a particular artist.

Fun Family Bingo, for people age 7 and up, will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m.

Homeschool STEM, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m., will give children age 7 and up the opportunity to learn about a STEM element and use provided materials to do a project.

Super Saturday Story Time, a weekend story time with Miss Jan, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m.

Homeschool History Mystery, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 30, at 1:30 p.m., will offer children age 7 and up the opportunity to learn about a mystery related to a real event in history.

Interest groups for adults include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Sept. 13 and 27, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; and A Gathering of Artists Club on Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. Also, the Northwest Book Club will discuss "Something in the Water" by Catherine Steadman on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m.

The Friends will meet on Monday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. New members are welcome.

Information, Misinformation, and Disinformation - How to Tell the Difference, a nonpartisan program, will be presented by Wayne A. Selcher on Monday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. Selcher is a college professor of 45 years.

Make-It Monday - Craft Supplies Swap Meet will offer crafters the opportunity to swap supplies with other crafters. It will take place on Monday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m.

The Lit Lovers Book Club will discuss "The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek" by Kim Michele Richardson on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 6:30 p.m.
