Library Slates Activities

Kreutz Creek Library (KCL), 66 Walnut Springs Road, York, will offer programs and services to the community. Unless otherwise noted, registration is required. For details and registration, visit http://www.yorklibraries.org.

The library will offer Summerquest activities for kids and teens from June to August. This year's theme is "Oceans of Possibilities." To be eligible for prizes, kids and teens should register at http://yorklibraries.beanstack.org with their free library cards. Anyone who does not have a library card may stop by their home library or request at the aforementioned website. Prizes for logged reading minutes may be picked up beginning Friday, July 1.

Community members may also pick up Get Outside York (GO York) booklets and rubbing sheets at any York County Libraries location after registering for Summerquest. Participants may log their hiking post codes in Beanstack to enter for the GO York grand prize drawing.

The Kreutz Creek Library is open for both browsing and in-library programs. Masks are optional. The library is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Programs will include Baby and Toddler Story Time on Wednesdays, July 6, 13, and 27, and Kindermusik on Wednesday, July 20, for children up to age 3; Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 5, on Fridays, July 1, 8, 22, and 29; and a Summerquest Special Story Time with Miss Lisa, for children birth to age 11, on Friday, July 15, featuring "A Fish Out of Water" by Helen Palmer. All programs will run from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.

For the Online Lego Challenge, themed Lego challenges will be posted to KCL's Facebook page at 10 a.m. on Mondays, July 4 to 25. Participants of all ages may build and take a photo of their creations, then post the photo in the comments or email it to kreutzcreeklibrary@yorklibraries.org.

Tween programs for individuals ages 9 to 12 will take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., with The Danger Club on July 12 and the Library Squad on July 26. Attendees should register via the online KCL calendar.

Spoiler Alert! will meet on Tuesday, July 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This book review group is for people ages 13 to 18.

Local artist Robert Oughton will present Drawing for Everyone, for people age 10 and up, on Thursdays through July 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. Contact the library for a list of needed materials.

Tiny Teen Art: Sea Glass Wave is now available on the York County Libraries (YCL) YouTube channel, yorkcountylibrariespa. Participants will create a work of art with Candi J. Duda Stained Glass Studio and may pick up a kit at KCL.

Girls GO STEAM Summer Spectacular will take place on Monday to Friday, July 25 to 29, from 10 a.m. to noon. The program is for girls in kindergarten through fifth grade, and space is limited to 25 participants. Girls will present an expo for their families and the community on the final day.

A program featuring YA author Laekan Zea Kemp will be offered for youths ages 12 to 18 via Zoom on July 12 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Free copies of one of Kemp's books will be available for registrants while supplies last.

Crocheters and knitters will gather for Stitch and Chat! on Thursdays, July 7 and 21, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Participants do not need to register.

Green Thumb Garden Talk will feature "Carefree Succulents for Home and Garden" with Kim Slezak on Thursday, July 14, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Registration is not required.

Mystery at the Library, a virtual author event, will begin at 7 p.m. on July 27.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library Branch Support Group will gather on July 26 in the Community Room at 5:30 p.m.

The Cookbook Discussion Group will meet on July 28 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Attendees should bring a sweet or savory prepared dish based on July's theme, "Garden Patch." Attendees should bring copies of their recipe.
