Library slates March activities

The library will offer several ongoing programs. These activities include Literary Travelers Book Club on Friday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m.; Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, March 4 and 18, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, March 26, at 6 p.m.; Beginner Tai Chi Easy on Tuesday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m.; Lititz Game Club for players age 10 and older on Wednesdays, March 6 and 20, at 4:30 p.m.; Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County on March 6 at 6 p.m.; Lititz Garden Club on Thursday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m.; Painting Club on Wednesdays, March 13 and 27, at 12:30 p.m.; Great Decisions Discussion Group on March 13 at 6:30 p.m.; Writing Club on March 18 at 1 p.m.; Jane Austen Society on Tuesday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m.; Adult Coloring Club on March 26 at 2 p.m.; and Lititz Art Association on March 26 at 6 p.m.

Members of the Blanketeers will gather to make blankets of various kinds for Project Linus on March 5 and 19 at 2 p.m.

A Look at Libraries: The Spread of Literacy will be presented on Tuesday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. The program will explore how the concept of literacy has changed over time and what it means to be literate in today's society.

The Exploring Growing Together Discussion Forum will be offered on Thursdays, March 14 and 28, at 11 a.m. Books, articles, and videos are used to facilitate discussion.

The library will host a Jigsaw Puzzle Race on March 14 at 6 p.m. Teams of four people will have two hours to complete a 500-piece puzzle. The first team to complete the puzzle correctly will receive a 1,000-piece puzzle to take home. Refreshments will be served.

Lititz Historical Foundation will host a program on Saturday, March 16, at 1:30 p.m. York County historian Dominish Miller will present "Women at War: The Female Soldiers of the American Civil War and Those That Wished They Were."

Fire in the Glen will present a concert on Thursday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. This performance of fiddle tunes and ballads will focus on Irish, Scottish and Maritime music as well as the band's own brand of music, dubbed Celtic eclectic.

Accessible Yoga with Black Cat Yoga will be held on Friday, March 22, at 10 a.m. People of all abilities are welcome to participate.

The BYOB Book Club will meet on March 28 at 2 p.m. Attendees should bring a book they are currently reading.

The library's winter StoryWalk is "Winter Dance" by Marion Dane Bauer. The StoryWalk begins to the right of the library entrance and moves counterclockwise around the library.

Read Across America Story Time and Family Trivia will take place on March 2 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. After viewing a short Dr. Seuss presentation, attendees will play trivia, answering questions about kids' books, cartoons, movies, and songs, along with a question or two for the adults in the room. Snacks and prizes will be offered.

During the Paws to Read program on Saturdays, March 9 and 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., children can read stories to trained therapy dogs.

Lil' Builders Story Time will be offered on Wednesdays, March 13 to 27, at 6 p.m. This program is for children ages 3 to 5, and they should attend independently.

Cruise Into Kindergarten will meet on March 18 at 6:30 p.m. Cruise Into Kindergarten is geared to children ages 3 to 6 and is based on the national Every Child Ready to Read program. After hearing a story, children and caregivers will visit stations intended to help with skills that children need to start school.

There Goes the Sun Totally will be held on Monday, March 25, at 4 p.m. The library will prepare for the total solar eclipse by offering information and activities about the sunlight and shadows. This program is geared for children ages 5 to 10.

The Lititz Public Library will offer indoor story times for children 6 months to 5 years old between Monday, April 8, and Thursday, May 16. Registration will open on March 25 at 9 a.m. More details are available on the aforementioned website.
