Library Starts Community Journaling Project

The Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, started a new program, the Community Journaling Project, on Jan. 7. This new program allows patrons to check out a community journal and contribute an entry to it. They will have the book for one week, after which they will return it to the library for another patron to check out. The journals may be checked out in the library's community room.

These books will eventually become part of the library's permanent collection. Patrons can read through the pages that are already filled out and then add to the book. They can write, draw, or even collage on their entry.

There are rules patrons must follow, such as limiting their entries to three to five pages and making sure their entries are G-rated and kind. They may not write on or in any way deface the pages that came before theirs, and they must return the journal in a timely fashion.

Four journals are available to check out and contribute to: "Stories My Grandparents Told Me," "Memories of the Lititz Community," "Tried & True Recipes and Household Fixes," and "Ongoing Children's Story - 'Squirrels at the Playground.'"
