Library will host authors

In April, Milanof-Schock Library will host two authors, bringing in an opportunity to learn more about the writing process and their books.

Teresa Peschel, author of "Fed, Safe and Sheltered," will speak on Saturday, April 6. Author Carolyn Kleinman will discuss "The Class Assignment Is Murder" on Saturday, April 13. Both programs will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy.

"Hosting authors is a great way for the library to connect local authors with the community," said Stephanie Funk, operations coordinator for the library. "For me, it really brings a book to life when you can speak with the author, find out their inspiration for writing the book and learn more and connect with them face to face."

Both authors reached out to the library with an interest in presenting their programs, Funk noted. "Both of these authors are incredibly engaging and love sharing their passion with others," she said. "Their enthusiasm is contagious."

Peschel's program, called "Sustainability and Resilience," will focus on her goal of prioritizing lifestyle choices to provide her family with financial freedom and security. She will discuss her own experience with the idea of saying "no" in order to develop skills to live a more efficient life without spending a lot of money. "They lived a life that provided them with resiliency to sudden changes such as job loss, supply shortages, rising cost of groceries, etc.," Funk shared. "She'll give attendees three takeaways that they can implement immediately."

Kleinman, a retired English teacher from Lancaster County, will discuss the history of mysteries and their common components in her program, "Unraveling the Mystery of Mysteries." She'll also explain how a true crime inspired her to write the book "The Class Assignment Is Murder."

Both programs are free to attend, but registration is required as space is limited. Both authors will have their books available for purchase.
